KNG199ICW: no or insufficient hot water

First checks for water supply, power, flow, temperature and displayed faults on KNG199ICW.

Covered models: KNG199ICW

Safety comes first

If you smell gas, do not try to light an appliance, touch electrical switches or use a phone in the building. Call your gas supplier from a neighbor’s phone and follow their instructions. If the supplier cannot be reached, call the fire department. Installation and service belong to a qualified installer, service agency or gas supplier.

Check external supplies and the display

Check whether the heater is plugged in and switched ON. Check whether cold faucets work and whether the water supply valve near the heater is open. Note any flashing error code and use the ICW error reference. Do not open the cabinet to inspect a fuse or board. A blank display that does not recover requires a qualified installer or service technician.

Insufficient heat or water that turns cold

The manual asks whether the faucet draws at least 1/2 gallon per minute through the heater and directs allowing more flow if needed. Check whether the outlet temperature is set too low; use the control guide and scald warnings rather than raising the setting blindly. A flashing code needs its model-specific response.

Frozen water pipes

Turn OFF the unit, close all water valves and the gas valve, then contact a qualified installer or service technician. Do not use a reset as a substitute for addressing freezing.
