Read how they are madeA tankless heater is a great upgrade when the house is ready for it. Have a licensed installer confirm these four things.
Both models run on natural gas only, not propane. A 199,000 BTU unit also needs an adequately sized gas line.
Tankless heaters vent differently from tanks. Confirm vent type and length in your model's manual.
The condensing KNG199ICW makes condensate and needs a drain nearby. The KNG199INW does not condense.
For KNG199ICW heat-exchanger flushing: No flushing is required when a water softener is present and consistently operational. Periodic flushing is required when a softener is absent or is not consistently operational. Other maintenance remains required. A filter or scale inhibitor is not a water softener. Follow the INW manual separately; contact support to establish the applicable interval.
